It all began when Nigel Semmens who was 18 years old and English Junior Champion at the time, took a surf trip to Hawaii. Nigel soon discovered that his board didn't cut it in a competitive environment, this lead him down the path of designing and shaping his own boards.

Nigel learned his craft at the Ocean Magic factory under the guidance of Pete McAllum. His skills flourished, and he quickly became a competent and well respected shaper. Nigel's shaping and surfing career went from strength to strength with a series of competitive wins including the British Champion title in 1979, the European Championships in 1981 and English Masters Champion in 1993.

Nigel still surfs today and with his highly experienced and loyal Ocean Magic team continues to shape world-class highly refined surfboards that hold their own in every setting.
